We're aware of an ongoing issue affecting some Apple Music listeners. Apple Music is currently sending Airbuds an incomplete recently played list, especially for songs started from playlists. As a result, your Airbuds history may be empty or show only a handful of songs, even though Apple Music is playing normally.
Your Apple Music account and your existing Airbuds profile are safe. This problem is with the listening data Airbuds receives from Apple, not with the connection itself.
If Apple Music still appears connected in Airbuds, no. Disconnecting and reconnecting Apple Music, or deleting and reinstalling Airbuds, will not fix this incident or restore the missing plays.
Some users have reported that these temporary workarounds help:
Start songs from Search in the Apple Music app instead of from a playlist.
Listen through Apple Music on the web at music.apple.com.
These workarounds may not work for everyone, and we can't guarantee that every play will sync. Airbuds also can't add plays that Apple never sent us, so some missing songs may not appear later.
We've contacted Apple directly and shared technical details about the incident. We're also investigating ways to capture more listening activity from the app itself. We'll update this article when we have more information.
Spotify and other music providers are not affected by this Apple Music incident.
